Vanessa + Anthony Wedding: Wayfarer's Chapel & El Dorado in Long Beach, CA
The mother's stood silently over Vanessa + Anthony as they gently looped a large lasso of rosary beads shaped in a figure eight gently around each neck. The lasso, or el lazo, was symbolic of their love which binds the couple today and everyday as they equally share the responsibilities of marriage for the rest of their lives together.
This was my first Hispanic wedding and what I witnessed between Vanessa, Anthony, family, friends, and their culture really resonated with me. Vanessa and Anthony warned me and never failed to remind me of how big and chaotic their family would be. They were right. The family & guests were large in numbers. And the wedding from beginning to end, was in fact, chaotic. BUT it wasn't the kind of chaos you wanted to run from but the one that you wanted to run towards. It was the kind of chaos that showed me just how remarkable and loved these two really were/are.
Thank you so much, Vanessa and Anthony, for giving me the opportunity to capture the special bond between the two of you and your families. Thank you for allowing me to photograph the memories of gathered good hearts. What a beautiful reminder for the rest of us of how important it is to embrace who you are, where you come from, and who you surround yourself with. Wishing you two and your families a happy ever after.
